The Maple Leafs look to snap their three game losing skid and play spoiler on Thursday night as they welcome the Minnesota Wild to the ACC.
The Wild head into Toronto on Thursday night looking to extend their winning streak to three games and hold firm to their wild card spot in the Western Conference playoffs and with the Leafs sitting in last place in the league standings they stand a great chance here at getting a victory. Minnesota had a tough start to the year but have since turned it up and look like a team ready to make a push in the Western Conference playoffs, and if they can get a victory tonight they will move two points clear of the Colorado Avalanche for that final spot. Minny is a modest plus eight in goal differential and are just 12-14-6 on the road this season but at a time of desperation and every game meaning so much to their playoff chances I think they show up here against the hapless Maple Leafs.
The Leafs meanwhile have stumbled in their last 10 games sporting a 2-7-1 record and sit in last place in the league standings, and while it has been a very tough year for Leafs Nation they know they are in the midst of a rebuild and have the braintrust to do it right. Toronto has some youngsters in the minors that will be league superstars and one of them has already been recalled to the big team as William Nylander will likely don the blue and white for the rest of the season. In the meantime though the Buds are going to be hard pressed in every game left on their schedule and this one is no different as the Wild cruise to victory.
