Toronto -160 // Nashville +123 // over-under: 5.5
The Toronto Maple Leafs host the Nashville Predators in an NHL tilt on Monday.
The Nashville Predators have shaken off some recent struggles with wins in three of four after downing Montreal 4-1 on Saturday. Shea Weber scored in the second for the Canadiens off a Jesperi Kotkaniemi assist. Carey Price took the loss for Montreal with three goals allowed on 31 shots.
Craig Smith topped the Predators with a pair of markers with Mattias Ekholm and Viktor Arvidsson also finding the back of the net. PK Subban assisted twice and Juuse Saros picked up the win for Nashville with 27 stops.
The Toronto Maple Leafs avoided a three game skid with a dominant 5-0 victory against visiting Vancouver on Saturday. The Canucks never got their offense going and Jacob Markstrom struggled in the net with five goals scoring on 34 shots.
The balanced Maple Leafs received goals from John Tavares, Trevor Moore, Auston Matthews, Andreas Johnsson and Igor Ozhiganov. Matthews completed a three point night with two helpers with Michael Hutchinson getting the win for Toronto with 28 stops.
Predators are 0-5 in their last 5 after allowing 2 goals or less in their previous game and over is 5-0 in Predators last 5 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600 and under is 4-0 in Predators last 4 in the third game of a 3-in-4 days situation. Under is 4-0 in Maple Leafs last 4 vs. a team with a winning record and over is 8-1 in Maple Leafs last 9 home games vs. a team with a losing road record and over is 6-1 in Maple Leafs last 7 after scoring 5 goals or more in their previous game. Predators are 0-4 in the last 4 meetings and road team is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings.
The Leafs need a win here against one of the best teams in the NHL to keep us convinced they are elite as well. I’m not paying the price tho…
