The Rangers look to shake off a loss at home against the Blackhawks on Wednesday night as they head into the ACC to battle the Leafs on Thursday.
The Rangers spoiled an opportunity to get a confidence boosting win against the defending champs at MSG last night but have a shot at redemption tonight as they head into Toronto to battle the last place Maple Leafs at the Air Canada Centre. The Blue Shirts have been up and down all season in the Metro division but they remain in second place and hold a four point lead on the Islanders for second and home ice advantage in the first round, which at this rate would be a huge plus in a potential cross town match up. New York will likely turn to Antii Raanta in this one as Henrik Lundqvist got the nod last night but at this juncture of the season I would be surprised to see them overload with their starter.
The Maple Leafs meanwhile are coming off a thrashing by the Chicago Blackhawks in what ended up being a 7-2 final on Monday night ending what was a tough road trip for the league’s worst club. Toronto is in line for a top end draft pick and while they haven’t had too many positive results this season there is a ton to look forward too as they are doing the process right and will be back in the fold in the next couple of years. With New York playing in a back to back and James Reimer getting the nod I like this one to be relatively low scoring and for the total to come in under the number.
