The New York Rangers go on the road to oppose the Toronto Maple Leafs in Saturday NHL action.

The New York Rangers are staring at a five game slide following a 3-2 loss to visiting Detroit on Tuesday. Ryan Strome and Brendan Smith scored third period goals for New York with Henrik Lundqvist allowing two goals on 27 shots to get the loss.

Frans Nielsen gave Detroit a 1-0 lead in the first with Andreas Athanasiou scoring in the second and third. Jimmy Howard picked up the win with a 41 save performance.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are eyeing back to back wins after a 4-2 decision at the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday. Casey Mittlestadt and Alexander Nylander found the back of the net for the Sabres and Carter Hutton absorbed the loss with three goals allowed on 45 shots.

Auston Matthews and John Tavares lit the lamp in the second with Mitch Marner and Zach Hyman scoring in the third. Tavares, Nylander and Matthews also had assists for the Maple Leafs and Garrett Sparks pick up the win with 22 stops.

Rangers are 16-35 in their last 51 overall and Rangers are 17-44 in their last 61 games as a road underdog and Rangers are 17-44 in their last 61 road games.
