The Maple Leafs look to shake off a tough home loss to the Preds in their last outing as they host the Capitals at the ACC.
Washington heads into Toronto as losers of two straight contests including a pivotal home loss to the Penguins in which they were blanked by a 4-0 scoreline that padded the division lead for the visitors and left Adam Oates and coaching staff scratching their heads. The Caps take their show on the road once again as they head into Toronto to take on a Maple Leafs team who is still suffering the side effects of losing Dave Bolland to injury as they were outmuscled most of the night against a very tough Nashville team. The Caps will look to take advantage of a Leafs team playing at .500 in their last 10 games but will need a special effort as the Leafs are a very solid team on home ice.
Toronto will look to shake off Thursday’s loss to Nashville with a responsive effort against a high powered Washington attack that will be looking to bust out after two subpar efforts. The Leafs couldn’t stick with the Predators as they were outlasted and ultimately dropped the game by a 4-2 mark – their first loss at home in over a month. The Leafs do match up very well against the Caps though as Toronto is much deeper offensively and play a more stay at home type of game on the blue line which is something the Capitals don’t do very well as they seem to involve their back end in the rush more often than most teams. I like Toronto to rebound here and I think special teams makes the difference as the Toronto powerplay comes to work.
