The Washington Capitals look to continue their recent success against the Maple Leafs as the two sides meet up in Toronto on Thursday night.

The Capitals look to pull off the road upset in Toronto on Thursday night in a potential Eastern Conference final preview against the Maple Leafs who return home after an overtime loss in St. Louis on Tuesday night. The Capitals are looking as dangerous as ever as Alex Ovechkin continues to be the game’s premier scoring threat and with a 5-1 mark in their last 6 Thursday night games they are an interesting look here as a hefty road underdog. The Capitals are 13-6 in their last 19 games against the Maple Leafs but the favorite is 20-7 in the last 27 meetings between these sides and the odds makers currently have the Buds as a pretty substantial favorite. Washington is just 2-5 in their last 7 road games and are just 1-5 in their last 6 contests following a victory which must be considered here if you’re thinking of taking the Caps.

The Leafs meanwhile return home after a lengthy road trip and that is great news for Toronto fans as their team is 4-0 in their last 4 games after returning from a week long road trip. The Leafs have one of the league’s best offenses but they ran into a red hot St. Louis Blues team on Tuesday night, and while they salvaged a point with a late game surge they still dropped points which is pivotal in the race for 2nd place in the Atlantic division. Toronto is 8-2 in their last 10 games against the Metro division and 11-5 in their last 16 games against the Eastern Conference but they have had their issues with Ovechkin and company and will need a strong outing here if they’re going to get a victory.

The Caps are winless in their last 6 against the Eastern Conference and have hit the Over in 5 of their last 6 playing on two day’s rest while the Leafs are 22-7 in their last 29 as a favorite and have hit the Over in 4 of their last 6 as a home favorite. This game features plenty of offense and while we are on the hook for an extra half goal the Over looks like the most plausible result in what should be an exciting game.
