The Anaheim Ducks go on the road to face the Vancouver Canucks in a Tuesday NHL matchup.
The Anaheim Ducks have been at their best the past several weeks as the team motors towards the postseason. Anaheim has won five of six after upending Edmonton 5-4 in OT where Connor McDavid, Ty Rattie, Leon Draisaitl and Ethan Bear scored for the Oilers and Cam Talbot stopped 33-38 shots.
Adam Henrique topped the Ducks offense with a pair of goals with Josh Manson and Corey Perry also scoring in regulation before Hampus Lindholm won it 1:21 in to overtime. Cam Fowler posted a pair of helpers and Anaheim received 28 saves from John Gibson in the win.
The Vancouver Canucks have not had a whole lot to cheer about in 2017-18 with the playoffs out of reach. Vancouver comes off a surprisingly one sided 4-1 win at surging Columbus where Mattias Janmark scored unassisted in the first for the Blue Jackets and Kari Lehtnonen allowed three goals on 26 shots.
The Canucks received scoring from Reid Boucher, Nic Dowd and Jake Virtanen before Tyler Motta scored on the empty net with 41 seconds remaining. Jussi Jokinen posted two assists for Vancouver and Jacob Markstrom stopped 30 shots.
Ducks are 5-0 in their last 5 vs. a team with a losing record and Ducks are 5-1 in their last 6 Tuesday games and Ducks are 10-2 in their last 12 games playing on 1 days rest. Over is 6-0 in Canucks last 6 when their opponent scores 5 goals or more in their previous game and Canucks are 1-7 in their last 8 when their opponent scores 5 goals or more in their previous game and over is 7-1 in Canucks last 8 home games vs. a team with a losing road record. Ducks are 4-0 in the last 4 meetings and under is 2-0-2 in the last 4 meetings in Vancouver and under is 11-2-3 in the last 16 meetings.
Vancouver proved there is no such thing as a sure thing with their upset of Dallas as a huge road dog. I’m backing the Ducks but not big…
