The Hurricanes head into Vancouver looking to catch the Canucks with tired legs as the home team is coming off a huge win over the Avs on Sunday night.
Carolina has been another underachiever who hasn’t been able to find any sense of consistency over the past few seasons however their mediocrity this season has them in third place in the underwhelming Metropolitan division. Carolina has won three straight games which has propelled them up the Eastern Conference standings but they’re still on the brink of holding down a playoff spot and if they can’t find a way to generate more offense they could be left out entirely. Justin Peters has done a nice job in relief of Cam Ward who has battled injuries this season but he is likely to get the nod for the Canes in this one as he squares off against Roberto Luongo for the Canucks. Carolina is sitting at .500 on the road while the Canucks are two games above the mark at home.
Vancouver is heating up at just the right time as they have won four straight games and are closing the gap on some of the game’s top teams who all seem to be in the Pacific division. The Canucks still sit in 4th place despite their recent surge as they trail the Sharks, Ducks, and Kings in their division as well as the Blackhawks, Blues, Wild, and Avalanche in the Conference in what will certainly be an awesome race to watch all season long. Vancouver had a tough road trip that was low lighted by a tough loss in New York but they have since rallied and look like a team on a mission as they head into the second leg of a back to back tonight. Roberto Luongo got the nod against the Avs last night which has me thinking they will start Eddie Lack tonight which should alter the line a little but either way I think the Canucks are too much here and I think they end Carolina’s winning streak.
