The Avalanche look for their second win in as many nights on the Canadian west coast as they head into Vancouver to face off with the Canucks.
The Colorado Avalanche got a big win on the road in Edmonton last night and will look to parlay that into another victory here against a Canucks side that has really struggled at home this season and runs the risk of missing out on this year’s playoffs. The Avalanche have quietly climbed up the Central division standings and currently hold down a wild card spot in the Western Conference and with the season starting to wind down they are in a very good spot when it comes to qualifying for hockey’s second season. The Avs are 31-26-4 this year and have really turned it up since the all-star break and with a win tonight they can move three points clear of the Predators for the first wild card spot.
The Canucks meanwhile have been a train wreck of late and sit in fifth place in the Pacific division and are just six points out of last place in the Western Conference, There wasn’t a ton of optimism heading into the season for them but after a relatively competitive first half there was belief they could qualify out of the lackluster Pacific division but thanks to the Sharks and Ducks going on a tear and the Coyotes finding ways to stick around the Canucks are on the outside looking in and don’t match up well here on out. The Avs are in a back to back but Vancouver is in trouble right now and I am going to side with the road team.
