The Dallas Stars lock horns with the Vancouver Canucks in Thursday night NHL hockey action.
The Dallas Stars looked flat at both ends of the ice against the Edmonton Oilers Tuesday and the home team showed no mercy as they rolled to a 7-1 victory. The Oilers huge offensive assault featured seven different players scoring with Patrick Maroon, Darnell Nurse, David Desharnais, Oscar Klefbom, Benoit Pouliot, Connor McDavid and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins each lighting the lamp. Cam Talbot made 22 stops to pick up the victory as Edmonton ended a three game skid. The Stars lone tally came off the stick of Brett Ritchie but Antti Niemi received the hook after Edmonton scored their 5th goal with Lehtonen stopping 7-9 shots in relief as Dallas has suffered three straight defeats.
The Vancouver Canucks gave the Boston Bruins all they could handle before the visitors suddenly woke up in a 6-3 decision that has Boston flying high with an 11-3 record since Bruce Cassidy took over behind the bench. This one belonged to Brad Marchand who logged a hat trick in the third period and is now tied with Sydney Crosby for the league lead. The Bruins also received goals from Zdeno Chara, David Krejci and David Backes while Patrice Bergeron and David Pastrnak added a pair of helpers each to make a winner of Tuukka Rask and his 26 stops. The Canucks received a pair of goals from Makus Granlund with Alexander Edler also lighting the lamp with Ryan Miller absorbing the loss despite a 37 save effort.
The Stars are 0-4 in their last 4 Thursday games and the over is 4-0 in Stars last 4 overall while the over is 4-0 in Stars last 4 when their opponent allows 5 goals or more in their previous game. The over is 3-0-1 in Canucks last 4 after allowing 5 goals or more in their previous game and the over is 3-0-3 in Canucks last 6 following a home loss of 3 or more goals while the over is 4-0-1 in Canucks last 5 vs. Central. Stars are 11-1 in the last 12 meetings and the Stars are 5-1 in the last 6 meetings in Vancouver while the over is 13-3-1 in the last 17 meetings.
Dallas has dominated this match up and there have been plenty of scoring so for a lean pending goalies I’ll back the over…
