After a quick start to the season the Detroit Red Wings have hit a rut as of late. They've lost four straight games after Saturday's 3-2 overtime loss to the New York Rangers and they're just not scoring. The Red Wings have scored just five goals in the four games and that's obviously not going to cut it against anyone in today's NHL. Now they have to take on a Vancouver Canucks clubs that's one of the better teams in the league and one of the better teams on home ice. Detroit had some good stretches at times on Saturday but they didn't have enough sustained pressure in the offensive zone. You've got to do the little things if you're having problems scoring goals and you can't do them if the other team has the puck in your zone the whole game. Vancouver finally returned home after their lengthy road trip and they avoided the dreaded first game back lull with a 3-2 win over the Washington Capitals. That makes four straight wins for this club that is playing some excellent hockey right now. If they come out strong early and get the Red Wings on their heels they should be in good shape in this one. Detroit is lacking confidence in this one so if the Canucks can play from ahead they should be able to pick up the victory here.
