NHL action comes to the Rogers Center where the Los Angeles Kings visit the Vancouver Canucks.

The Los Angeles Kings were one of the hottest teams around a few short weeks ago but team is suffering through a scoring drought with losses in five of seven with eight goals scored in the defeats. Los Angeles comes in off of a 3-2, overtime loss to the visiting Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday with Marian Gaborik and Drew Doughty doing the scoring.

The Golden Knights offense came off the sticks of Jonathan Marchessault and Brendan Leipsic  in regulation before David Perron tallied at 3:30 of the extra session to win. Reilly Smith also logged a pair of helpers with Marc-Andre-Fleury stopping 26 shots. Jonathan Quick recorded 36 saves in a losing effort for Los Angeles.

The Vancouver Canucks are desperate for a winning streak as the team doesn’t want to fall to far behind in the postseason race. Vancouver had lost eight of nine where neither end  of the ice has been able to come through before getting in the win column with a 5-2 victory versus the visiting Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday night.

Nick Schmaltz and Ryan Hartman scored for the Blackhawks and Anton Forsberg allowed five goals on 31 shots to get the loss. The Canucks saw Sam Gagner and Thomas Vanek each score twice with Brock Boeser joining the scoring column. Vanek and Boeser also posted three assists each to lift Jacob Markstrom and his 30 stops to the win.

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
