The Minnesota Wild and the Vancouver Canucks meet in NHL action from Rogers Arena on Wednesday night.

The Minnesota Wild will look to rebound from back-to-back losses after a 2-0 loss to the San Jose Sharks last time out. The game was scoreless through the first two periods before San Jose broke the deadlock just 3:08 into the 3rd period. Minnesota outshot the Sharks in all 3 periods, including 15-7 in the 3rd period, but the Wild wouldn’t produce a game-tying goal before the Sharks iced the win with an empty-net goal with just :15 remaining in the game. Alex Stalock ended up a hard-luck loser in the end, falling to 14-9-4 on the year after giving up a single goal on 20 shots faced in the losing effort.

The Vancouver Canucks will look to bounce back after a 5-1 beatdown loss to Anaheim in their last outing. Anaheim opened the scoring just under six minutes into the game and doubled the lead with just under eight minutes to go in the opening frame. The Ducks forged ahead 3-0 before Elias Pettersson got Vancouver on the board with nine minutes to go in the 2nd period. The Ducks would restore the three-goal cushion just over five minutes into the 3rd before adding a 5th goal for good measure later in the final period. Thatcher Demko took the loss, falling to 10-6-2 on the year after giving up 5 goals on 28 shots faced in the losing effort.

Minnesota is 6-2 in their last 8 games against the Western Conference while the under is 5-1-1 in their last 7 games overall. Vancouver is 11-2 in their last 13 home games and 2-5 in their last 7 games overall while the over is 3-1-1 in their last 5 games against a team with a losing record. Minnesota is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings between these two teams in Vancouver.

I considered Minnesota and the plus money with how much success they’ve had in Vancouver, but the problem is that the Canucks are playing way better at home than the Wild are on the road and Minnesota is in shambles right now and a coaching change doesn’t appear to have helped matters. I just think Vancouver and a reasonable price at home is too good to pass on, so I’ll lay the juice with the Canucks at home in this one.
