The Vancouver Canucks pay a visit to the Montreal Canadiens for a Saturday NHL matchup.

The Montreal Canadiens are gunning for back to back road wins after squeezing by Calgary 3-2 on Thursday. The Flames saw Matthew Tkachuk score twice in the second period with Mike Smith allowing three goals on 22 shots to get the loss.

Tomas Tater scored in the first for Montreal with Jonathan Drouin and Artturi Lehkonen lighting the lamp in the third. Nine players picked up points for the Canadiens who received 43 stops from Cary Price.

The Vancouver Canucks are looking for a change in fortunes after a 6-2 defeat at Minnesota concluded a 1-5 road trip. Bo Horvat and Markus Granlund supplied goals for Vancouver but  that wasn’t enough for Richard Bachman who surrendered four goals on 29 shots.

The balanced Minnesota offense saw scoring off the sticks of Charlie Coyle, Mikko Koivu, Nino Niederreiter, Matt Dumba and Jason Zucker. Koivu added two assists and Devan Dubnyk picked up the win for the Wild with 25 saves.

Over is 4-0 in Canadiens last 4 vs. a team with a losing record and over is 10-2 in Canadiens last 12 after allowing 2 goals or less in their previous game and over is 5-1 in Canadiens last 6 overall. Over is 4-0 in Canucks last 4 vs. a team with a winning record and over is 4-0 in Canucks last 4 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game and Canucks are 0-4 in their last 4 overall. Canadiens are 5-0 in the last 5 meetings and home team is 7-2 in the last 9 meetings and Canadiens are 5-2 in the last 7 meetings in Vancouver.

Montreal has been a bit more consistent lately so I’ll back them pending goalies…

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
