The New York Islanders make the long trip to Rogers Arena to face the Vancouver Canucks in a Monday NHL tilt.
The New York Islanders have been infrequent visitors to the win column and as a result their postseason hopes. New York has had their share of issues at both ends of the ice with the team dropping six in a row after a 3-2 overtime loss at Pittsburgh where Brandon Davidson and Anders Lee scored.
The Penguins received a second period goal from Patric Hornqvist with Derick Brassard scoring in the third before Sydney Crosby lit the lamp in the extra session for the first and only lead of the game. Phil Kessel added two assists for Pittsburgh and Tristan Jarry picked up the win with 25 stops while Christopher Gibson allowed three goals on 50 shots.
The Vancouver Canucks are in the same position as their counterparts with struggles at both ends of the ice that will result in missing the playoffs. Vancouver comes off of a 4-3 overtime loss to Nashville The Canucks received scoring from Bo Horvat, Brandon Sutter and Daniel Sedin but Jacob Markstrom allowed four goals on 43 shots.
The balanced Nashville offense saw scoring from Mike Fisher, Kevin Fiala and Ryan Ellis in regulation with Calle Jarnkrok lighting the lamp 43 seconds in to overtime to secure the two points. Viktor Arvidsson gave the Predators a pair of assists and Juuse made 24 saves to keep the team hot.
Islanders are 0-4 in their last 4 road games and Islanders are 0-6 in their last 6 overall and Islanders are 1-6 in their last 7 games playing on 1 days rest. Canucks are 0-5 in their last 5 Monday games and Canucks are 0-4 in their last 4 games playing on 2 days rest and Canucks are 1-11 in their last 12 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400. Over is 3-0-1 in the last 4 meetings and Islanders are 4-0 in the last 4 meetings.
I don’t know how somebody could bet this ‘expecting’ a positive outcome but I’ll throw this out there…
