West coast NHL action features the Vancouver Canucks hosting the St. Louis Blues on Thursday.
The St. Louis Blues are trying to right the ship with wins in three of four after defeating Edmonton 4-1 on the road Tuesday. Jesse Puljujarvi scored the Oilers goal in the second off of assists from Jujhar Khaira and Caleb Jones with Cam Talbot giving up three goals on 29 shots to get the loss.
David Perron lit the lamp in the first for St. Louis with Pat Maroon, Vladimir Tarasenko and Jaden Schwartz all scoring in the third. Brayden Schenn gave the Blues three helpers and Jake Allen recorded 22 stops to pick up the win.
The Vancouver Canucks fell to visiting Tampa Bay 5-2 on Tuesday but have still won five of seven. Tyler Mott and Chris Tanev provided the scoring for Vancouver but Anders Nilsson was touched for four goals on 36 shots.
The balanced Tampa Bay offense saw scoring from Nikita Kucherov, Cedic Paquette, Adam Erne, Steven Stamkos and Ondrej Palat. Kucherov and Erne added helpers as well for the Lightning who received 36 saves from Andrei Vasilevskiy.
Over is 3-0-1 in Blues last 4 Thursday games and Blues are 0-4 in their last 4 road games vs. a team with a losing home record and over is 5-0 in Blues last 5 games following a win. Over is 3-0-1 in Canucks last 4 vs. Western Conference and over is 3-0-1 in Canucks last 4 when their opponent allows 2 goals or less in their previous game and over is 5-0 in Canucks last 5 Thursday games. Blues are 5-1 in the last 6 meetings and Blues are 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in Vancouver and under is 18-7-4 in the last 29 meetings in Vancouver.
These teams are winning right now but are not consistent in my view. Right now I’m looking at the over and will dig in to this more…
