The Jets and Canucks meet up in Vancouver on Monday night in a battle of two Western Conference bottom feeders that will likely miss out on the playoffs.
The Winnipeg Jets head into Rogers Arena on Monday looking to spoil Vancouver’s faint playoff hopes and shake off their 3-6-1 slump that has spiraled them down to the third to last spot in the Western Conference. Winnipeg has gone from a playoff team a season ago to one in the race for a top end draft pick and while they have moved some parts out of the lineup after struggling this season there are likely a ton of changes on the horizon and that could include a coaching switch or a changing of leadership in the front office. Winnipeg has been dreadful on the road this season as they are a measly 13-18-3 away from home and take on a Canucks side that has had their own struggles this season as they are 13-16-5 at home.
The Canucks have been a staple in the Western Conference playoffs over the last decade or so but they have fallen off over the last three years and are likely to be on the outs once again this season. Vancouver has a nice crop of youngsters that will play a significant role in the near future but this season they have been very weak and that is with a goaltender in Ryan Miller that is playing quite well despite the lack of production in front of him. The Canucks in this matchup though look to be the better side as they have a bit more depth up front and while the back end of the Canucks needs an overhaul I don’t see the Jets offense being much of a threat anyways.
