T-Mobile Arena and the Vegas Golden Knights welcome the Montreal Canadiens to town for Saturday NHL action.
The Montreal Canadiens playoff drive been sputtering at a time it has to be in high gear. Montreal has lost four straight and seven of ten where the offense is struggling to score. The Canadiens come off of a 5-2 defeat at Arizona where Brendan Gallagher and Daniel Carr scored third period goals for the Habs.
Brendan Perlini paced the Coyotes offensive burst with a pair of goals with Clayton Keller, Tobias Rieder and Josh Archibald also reaching the scoring column. Keller and Oliver Ekman-Larsson each contributed three assists and Antti Raanta stopped 34 for shots for Arizona. Carey Price was charged with all five goals on 21 shots to get the loss for Montreal.
The Vegas Golden Knights apparently aren’t going to fall from their perch atop the Pacific as many had expected. Vegas has shown they can ;get the job done at both ends of the ice and did just that in a 4-1 victory versus Edmonton where Leon Draisaitl scored the lone Oilers goal in the third.
The balanced Golden Knights featured scoring off the sticks of Ryan Carpenter, Jonathan Marchessault, William Karlsson and Erik Haula with David Perron adding two assists. Marc-Andre Fleury picked up the win for Vegas with 28 stops while Cam Talbot absorbed the loss with four goals allowed on 28 shots.
Canadiens are 0-4 in their last 4 overall and under is 7-0 in Canadiens last 7 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600 and under is 6-0-1 in Canadiens last 7 after allowing 5 goals or more in their previous game. Over is 4-0 in Golden Knights last 4 when their opponent scores 2 goals or less in their previous game and Golden Knights are 5-0 in their last 5 when their opponent allows 5 goals or more in their previous game and Golden Knights are 6-1 in their last 7 Saturday games.
I never assume anything is automatic but I am backing the hotter team in Vegas at home…
