Friday night NHL action pits the Ottawa Senators against the Vegas Golden Knights.
The Ottawa Senators are in spoiler mode as the losses continue to mount. Ottawa has dropped five consecutive contests where the team was outscored 20-12. The Senators come off of a 3-2 loss at Washington with Mike Hoffman and Erik Karlsson scored.
The Capitals received a pair of tallies off the stick of Evgeny Kuznetsov with Tom Wilson also finding the back of the net. Washington received a pair of assists from Matt Niskanen to make a winner of Philipp Grubauer on his 28 saves while Mike Condon made 19 stops in defeat.
The Vegas Golden Knights have proven to be formidable in their first year of existence which has shocked many. Vegas has lost back to back contests following a 4-1 defeat to the visiting Los Angeles Kings with their big offense getting a goal off the stick of William Karlsson.
The balanced Los Angeles attack received goals off the sticks of Kyle Clifford, Tyler Toffoli, Anze Kopitar and Jeff Carter which made the outstanding 41 save performance of Jack Campbell a winner while Maxime Legace was charged with the loss with 25 stops.
Senators are 0-4 in their last 4 when their opponent scores 2 goals or less in their previous game and Senators are 0-5 in their last 5 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600 and Senators are 0-4 in their last 4 games playing on 2 days rest. Golden Knights are 4-0 in their last 4 vs. a team with a winning % below .400 and over is 10-1 in Golden Knights last 11 Friday games and over is 6-1 in Golden Knights last 7 when their opponent scores 2 goals or less in their previous game.
I’m hopping the stagnant offense of the Golden Knights comes back to life and does some damage as I lean over…
