West coast NHL action pits the Vancouver Canucks at the Vegas Golden Knights.

The Vancouver Canucks hope to avoid back to back losses following a 5-2 defeat to visiting Washington on Monday. Vancouver received an unassisted tally from Try Stecher in the second and a goal 20 seconds in to the third from Sven Baertschi. Anders Nilsson took the loss for the Canucks with four goals allowed on 32 shots.

Alex Ovechkin paced the Capitals attack with a pair of goals with John Carlson, Evgeny Kuznetsov and TJ Oshie all lighting the lamp. Ovechkin and Carlson also logged a pair of helpers while Nicklas Backstrom added three assists to make a winner of the Caps and Braden Holtby with his 22 stops.

The Vegas Golden Knights are trying to rebound from a poor start and have done just that with three straight victories after downing Anaheim 3-1 on Saturday. Ben Street scored a third period goal for the Ducks while John Gibson gave up a pair of goals on 44 shots.

The Golden Knights offense came off the sticks of William Karlsson on the power play, Ryan Reaves and Jonathan Marchessault on the empty net. Marc-Andre Fleury picked up the win for Vegas with a 17 save performance.

Under is 6-0 in Canucks last 6 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600 and under is 5-1 in Canucks last 6 games playing on 1 days rest and under is 5-1 in Canucks last 6 overall. Under is 4-0 in Golden Knights last 4 vs. Western Conference and under is 4-0 in Golden Knights last 4 overall and under is 4-0 in Golden Knights last 4 when their opponent scores 2 goals or less in their previous game. Canucks are 0-4 in the last 4 meetings.

Vegas has allowed just two goals in their last three contests and I’m looking for their defense to come up big against Vancouver…

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
