The Line: Vegas Golden Knights -145 / Winnipeg Jets +131 --- Over/Under: 5.5
The Winnipeg Jets and Vegas Golden Knights meet Wednesday for game three of the NHL Western Conference Finals at the T-Mobile Arena.
The Winnipeg Jets hope to steal back home ice advantage while taking a 2-1 series lead. The Winnipeg Jets are averaging 3.3 goals per game and are scoring on 23.4 percent of their power play opportunities. Mark Scheifele leads Winnipeg with 12 goals, Blake Wheeler has 15 assists and Patrik Laine has 46 shots on goal. Defensively, the Winnipeg Jets are allowing 2.6 goals per game and are killing 81.8 percent of their opponents power plays. Connor Hellebuyck has given up 32 goals on 421 shots faced and Steve Mason has allowed zero goals on seven shots. The Winnipeg Jets have allowed three or less goals in seven of their last 10 games.
The Vegas Golden Knights hope to ride the wave of momentum while protecting home ice and taking a 2-1 series lead. The Vegas Golden Knights are averaging 3.3 goals per game and are scoring on 21.4 percent of their power play opportunities. Jonathan Marchessault leads Las Vegas with six goals, Reilly Smith has 13 assists and James Neal has 46 shots on goal. Defensively, the Vegas Golden Knights are allowing 2.7 goals per game and are killing 81.4 percent of their opponents power plays. Marc-Andre Fleury has given up 22 goals on 401 shots faced. The Vegas Golden Knights have allowed three or less goals in nine of their last 12 games.
The Jets are 4-1 in their last 5 road games, 45-22 in their last 67 games playing on 1 days rest and 41-18 in their last 59 overall. The Golden Knights are 32-12 in their last 44 home games, 35-16 in their last 51 games playing on 1 days rest and 9-3 in their last 12 overall. The under is 3-1-1 in Golden Knights last 5 overall and the over is 6-2 in Jets last 8 road games.
Besides the first quarter of game one, Vegas has been right there with Winnipeg and hasn't been outscored in a single quarter since. The Vegas Golden Knights tightend up the defense and got plenty of quality looks offensively, as nine players had at least two shots on goal in the victory. Vegas now returns home where it's lost just 10 games since December 14 and is 9-2 in its last 11 home games when a favorite. The Winnipeg Jets are a solid 7-4 in their last 11 games as a road underdog. There's certainly value in the Jets and the plus money, but I've been backing the Golden Knights all season and it's paid off. I'd be a fool to jump off the bandwagon now.
