The Capitals look to even the series and head home with some momentum while the Isles can grab a 3-1 lead with a win tonight.
The Washington Capitals haven't been playing their best hockey over the last three games and while they earned a victory in game two they were pasted in games one and three and now run the risk of playing from a behind if they lose tonight as well. The Caps have a ton of offensive fire power but Alex Ovechkin has just one goal this series which simply isn't good enough and if he can't play his way out of this rut the Caps' season will be over before they know it and they'll chalk up yet another playoff disaster. Braden Holtby returned to the crease for game three and he has been solid so far but he needs to find a way to steal a game here for his team and it has to be here or else they will be in deep trouble and will need to grab three straight victories which will be tough to do against a good Islanders side.
New York is having a great final season at Nassau Coliseum and they would love to keep their magic rolling into the second round and a win tonight would put them in the driver's seat for a big time playoff series victory. The Isles had a sluggish second half of the regular season and went from being sure fire division winners to running the risk of missing the playoffs but their big stars have stepped up when it matters and if Tavares and the boys can keep it rolling tonight than the Caps could be toast. While the Islanders have been the better team so far I do think the Caps can salvage the split and head back home on even terms and getting them as a dog in a virtual must win is something we are willing to risk.
