The Capitals look to finish off their Western Canada road swing in style on Sunday as they head from Calgary to Vancouver to take on the Canucks.
The Washington Capitals are playing in the tail end of one of the toughest road stretches any team faces during the course of the NHL regular season and with a win against the Canucks in Vancouver on Sunday they can escape with a 2-1 mark. The Caps dropped their first game of the trip to the Edmonton Oilers at Rexall but responded last night with an inspired effort against the Flames and now they'll look for a repeat effort against Ryan Miller and the Vancouver Canucks. Washington has played quite well this season amassing a 4-1-2 mark through their first seven contests and are right in the mix in the Metropolitan division though we are still very early in the season.
The Canucks meanwhile sit at 4-3 on the year and will be looking to make some strides in the Pacific division as they know the juggernauts in the division will be tough to catch down the road so staying close in the early going is a huge key for this Vancouver team. Ryan Miller has been up and down in his new uniform but he is certainly the go to guy despite Eddie Lack being a solid number two and as long Miller remains serviceable than the Canucks should stay in contention for a playoff spot. While I am not a fan of the line here as I think the Caps are more than capable of getting the win I do like the total as I think Washington will remain defensively conscious in this one and I expect Miller to bounce back and have a solid outing in front of the home crowd. Take the under here.
