The Anaheim Ducks look to continue their recent success against the Metro division as they head into Washington to take on the Capitals on Saturday night.
The Ducks head into DC on Saturday night looking to snap out of their 1-5 stretch on Saturday night as they take on a Capitals side that is hitting their stride with a 6-1 mark in their last seven games and are often one of the best teams in the league when playing on home ice. The Ducks are coming off a nice win in their last outing against the St. Louis Blues and now that they are getting healthy we could finally see the team many people expected to see at the beginning of the year as a contender in the Pacific division. The Ducks are expected to send John Gibson to the crease here as he will face off against Braden Holtby who has enjoyed a great stretch over the last couple of weeks and will be out to send his team to their 41st home win in their last 54 tries.
The Capitals provided an interesting narrative in the early part of the season as many expected this to be a season in which they could potentially take a step back but thanks to their explosive offense they are looking as dangerous as ever and have gone on a very impressive run over the last two weeks. Washington will need their offense to step up once again on Saturday as they take on a Ducks side that has one of the league’s best blue lines and a bright young goaltender that can steal the game for his team on any given night.
The Ducks are 1-5 in their last six playing on one day’s rest and are 4-1 in their last five against the Metro while the Caps are 40-14 in their last 54 home games and 6-1 in their in their last seven overall. The Ducks are playing better and the Caps to me are still a bit of work in progress but they are the better team right now and should get it done at home in this one.
