The Capitals look to shake off a loss in Tampa Bay last night as they return home to Washington to take on the Arizona Coyotes.
The Arizona Coyotes have been off to a slow start but things took a turn for the worse last night as they went into Carolina and were blanked by the league's most futile team handing the Canes their first victory of the season. The Coyotes have been longing for some help in the offensive zone for the last couple of seasons but this year more than ever their offense is a cause for concern and I think will be the team's downfall that could see them drafting in the top five in July. Arizona will look to regroup in this one against the Capitals who have played decently well this season despite losing three in a row including last night against the Lightning but they remain in the hunt sitting at .500. Arizona will likely go back with Mike Smith as he will match up against Justin Peters for the Caps.
The Capitals have been struggling of late having lost three straight games but perhaps the cure for their losing ways is in the form of the Arizona Coyotes who they see here on Sunday. The Caps are under new direction in Barry Trotz this season and optimism remains high that he and the team can return to being an Eastern Conference power house but they'll have to get more consistent play if that is to be the case. The Capitals are strong in the offensive zone and should be able to take advantage of that here despite Arizona's forte being their blue line and I think Justin Peters is one of the better options in goal as a number two behind Holtby and he should be in line for a victory here. I like the Caps to shake off their losing ways and get back in the win column with an easy one over the Coyotes.
