Tuesday NHL action features the Washington Capitals hosting the Carolina Hurricanes.

The Carolina Hurricanes have posted wins in four of five following a 2-1 OT victory against visiting Montreal on Sunday. Paul Byron scored a first period goal that held up until six minutes remained. Brendan Gallagher and Nate Thompson posted assists for the Habs and Carey Price gave up two goals on 40 shots.

Carolina saw Trevor van Riemsdyk tally at 14:21 of the third with Andre Svechnikov netting the winner at 3:15 of the extra session. Curtis McElhinney recorded 28 stops to secure the two points for the Hurricanes and up his record to 18-9-2.

The Washington Capitals avoided a three skid with a 3-1 victory against visiting Philadelphia on Sunday. Jakub Voracek scored an unassisted power play goal in the second while Brian Elliott allowed three goals on 30 shots to get the loss.

Tom Wilson, Travis Boyd and Jakub Vrana found the back of the net for Washington. Eight players recorded points for the Capitals and Braden Holtby picked up the win with 35 saves.

Hurricanes are 10-3 in their last 13 road games and Hurricanes are 5-2 in their last 7 games as a road underdog and Hurricanes are 7-3 in their last 10 games following a win.

Capitals are 9-1 in their last 10 games as a favorite and Capitals are 10-4 in their last 14 overall and Capitals are 25-10 in their last 35 vs. Metropolitan.

Hurricanes are 2-7 in the last 9 meetings in Washington and Hurricanes are 2-7 in the last 9 meetings and  road team is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings.

From a betting standpoint, Carolina has a decent chance here so why not avoid the juice or look elsewhere…

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
