The Blackhawks look to shake off a loss to the Flyers on Wednesday night as they continue their road trip in Washington against the Capitals.
The Blackhawks dropped their second game of the season on the road in Philadelphia last night as they were shutout by the Flyers to the tune of 3-0 and will have to regroup in a hurry as they continue their road trip in DC on Thursday. Chicago has split their four games at home and away so far and will be heading into the Verizon Center hoping that the Caps are without Alex Ovechkin again who was sidelined in Washington's 5-0 drubbing at the hands of the San Jose Sharks. The Hawks are a resilient bunch that always seem to find a way to rally after a loss and with Jonathan Toews in the dressing room and a handful of others with great leadership qualities you can bet they will be ready to go in this one.
The Capitals meanwhile are coming off an absolute massacre on home ice against San Jose in a game the Sharks dominated from start to finish and with Alex Ovechkin's status uncertain and Nick backstrom out of the lineup there isn't a whole lot to offer from the Caps. Washington does have a great blue line and a solid goaltender in Braden Holtby but against a Blackhawks team coming off a shutout loss they will be tough to contain two nights in a row. This is a toss up game is Ovechkin goes but if not I like the Hawks a lot more. I will probably stay away altogether but as a free play I suggest the under as the Hawks are in a back to back and Barry Trotz will have the Caps a little tighter on defense.
