The Blue Jackets look to chase down the Capitals in the Metropolitan division standings when the two teams meet up in Washington.
Columbus is a team that some projected to make a charge towards the playoffs this season after their activity at the end of last season had hopes soaring but so far they sit four games under .500 and are in seventh place in their division. The Blue Jackets do have some talent up front and a decent blue line but their success is going to stem from the play of Sergei Bobrovsky in goal. The reigning Vezina Trophy winner has been so-so to begin the year and he will have to turn his game up if the Jackets want to find any success this season and that starts tonight against their division rivals.
Washington is quietly turning their season around after another slow start had skeptics grinning but Alex Ovechkin and crew are a game above .500 and are in second place in the otherwise lackluster Metro division. The Capitals are a contrast to the Caps as Washington’s forte is in the offensive zone whether it is coming from their forward are blue liners as they’re a run and gun type of team. Washington will look to win their seventh game at home this season and at the same time hand Columbus their fifth road loss in what should be a pretty vocal Verizon Centre. The Caps are favourites in this spot and for good cause as I think they match up very well against the Jackets and I expect after a tough outing in their last game that the Capitals bounce back in a big way.
