The Washington Capitals' lengthy road trip finally came to an end on Friday night and it was a wild ending in Philadelphia against the Flyers. The Capitals used a dominant five goal second period that saw Joel Ward notch two goals. Ward would secure the hat trick with an early third period goal en route to a 7-0 win. This game will be remembered for the melee that took place but the Capitals stood up for each other and left the building tonight with a win and a lot less embarrassed than Philadelphia. They'll be happy to finally be home where they haven't played since October 19th. Now the Florida Panthers come to town and it's another hockey club they can take advantage of. The Panthers have lost four straight and seven of eight and are coming off a game Friday night that saw them dominated by a much better St. Louis Blues club. The Panthers lost by a score of 4-0 and teams are scoring at least three goals regularly against this club. That's not a recipe for success in this league and they need to bring their goals per game against down if they have any chance to compete this year. It won't be easy Saturday but at least they might catch a break if Alex Ovechkin is still out with an injured shoulder.
