The Washington Capitals look to claim their seventh win in a row as they host the Montreal Canadiens at the Verizon Center on Saturday night.

The Canadiens look to shake off a 4-2 loss at home against the San Jose Sharks last night as they head into DC to face off against a Capitals team that is steam rolling teams right now in what should be a very exciting contest between two of the best the league has to offer. Montreal has been on a tear of their own to start the season as they are 21-10 in their last 31 games overall and have a 16-6 in their last 22 games against the Eastern Conference and while they are likely to have AL Montoya in the crease here in place of Carey Price I think he is more than capable of getting a big road win, especially if the Caps counter with Phillipp Grubauer.

The Capitals are 6-0 in their last six games and are coming off a shootout win against the Carolina Hurricanes in Raleigh last night but return home for a big show down here against one of their biggest threats to win the Eastern Conference this season. The Caps have had their struggles playing in a back to back this season as they are just 2-5 in their last seven in the second leg of a double header but they know if they’re going to be considered among the league’s best they are going to have to compile some statement victories and that is exactly what we have here against the Canadiens.

Montreal is 38-18 in their last 56 against the Metro and 36-16 in their last 52 games on a Saturday while the Caps are 4-0 in their last four against the East and 40-11 in their last 51 against the Atlantic. This should be a very exciting game and even if it ends up being a battle of back ups goalies I think it’ll come down to the wire in a game where goals are at a premium.
