Friday NHL action features the Washington Capitals hosting the New Jersey Devils.

The New Jersey Devils have dropped four in a row where the offense has scored five times following a 2-1 SO loss to visiting Columbus on Tuesday. Travis Zajac scored in the second for the Devils of assists from Blake Coleman and Andy Greene. Cory Schneider recorded 17 saves to secure a point for the Devils.

Cam Atkinson scored in the first for Columbus with David Savard and Markus Nutivaara providing assists. Cam Atkinson and Artemi Panarin lit the lamp in the SO for the Blue Jackets to make a winner of Sergei Bobrovski and his 29 saves.

The Washington Capitals have racked up wins in seven of eight after skating by Philadelphia 5-3 on Wednesday. Philadelphia received scoring from Philippe Myers, Claude Giroux and Scott Laughton. Sean Couturier assisted twice for the Flyers and Brian Elliott allowed four goals on 19 shots before Cam Talbot stopped 15-16 shots in relief.

Washington jumped to a 5-0 lead on goals from Tom Wilson, Brett Connolly, Alex Ovechkin, Andre Burakovsky and Nicklas Backstrom. Dmitry Orlov logged a pair of helpers for the Capitals and Braden Holtby allowed three goals on 30 shots  to pick up the win.

Devils are 19-42 in their last 61 road games and Devils are 0-4 in their last 4 overall and Devils are 0-4 in their last 4 vs. Metropolitan.

Capitals are 5-0 in their last 5 overall and Capitals are 4-0 in their last 4 games as a favorite and Capitals are 4-0 in their last 4 vs. Metropolitan.

Devils are 0-4 in the last 4 meetings in Washington and Devils are 5-16 in the last 21 meetings and over is 5-2-1 in the last 8 meetings in Washington.

The Capitals are huge favorites which is expected with each team heading in opposite directions. I hate betting Washington in these types of games but I’ll throw this out there…

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
