The Washington Capitals look to shake off an ugly home loss to the Calgary Flames as they host the Ottawa Senators at the Verizon Center on Wednesday night.
The Sens are hoping to catch the Capitals off guard after they were waxed by the Flames earlier this week and with the way they have been playing on the road so far this season they are getting a ton of value in this spot as the books are anticipating a Capitals bounce back. Ottawa comes into tonight’s game with an 8-5-2 mark and a 4-1 record on the road but they have had their issues with the Metro division as they are 1-6 in their last seven games and face off against a Washington side here that is struggling to find an identity and has had a ton of issues when dealing with teams who have great team speed.
The Capitals are coming off one of their worst efforts in some time at home against a good Flames team but as we have seen for years in Washington they have always found a way to bounce back after an embarrassing defeat. The Caps are 20-6 in their last 26 games following a loss of three or more goals and have dominated opponents from the Atlantic division over the last couple of seasons as they have 57 wins in their last 76 games and that includes a handful of wins against Ottawa.
The Sens are 7-2 in their last nine Wednesday games and 1-4 in their last five against the East while the Caps are 9-4 in their last 13 Wednesday games and 38-18 in their last 56 against the Eastern Conference. The Sens are hoping to see the same Caps side that Calgary saw on Monday but I expect Washington to rebound and this should be a tight defensive game and these two always seem to stay under the total as they are 17-7 to the UNDER in their last 24 matchup
