The Capitals look to stay red hot on Wednesday night as they welcome the Philadelphia Flyers to town in a Metro division show down.
The Philadelphia Flyers continue to plug away in the Metro division standings as they aim to get back in a playoff position as the second half of the season takes shape and this game marks a rematch of last weeks thriller in Philadelphia that the Flyers took down. Philly has a boat load of talent in the offensive zone but they haven't been able to piece things together on a consistent basis and as such they're struggling to get into a postseason position and with the success of other teams in front of them including the Caps and Rangers they could be the ones on the outside looking in this season. Steve Mason is expected to get the call between the pipes as he will go up against Braden Holtby who has been sensational in the Washington crease all season.
The Capitals have been among the league's best teams in recent weeks as they have strung together a 7-1-2 mark in their last 10 games with the one loss coming at the hands of the Flyers and one they feel like they should have back. Washington has played very well under new head coach Barry Trotz who continues to find ways to win wherever he goes and his approach to the game has suited Alex Ovechkin perfectly and if they can continue their winning ways they should not only get into the playoffs but challenge the Pens and Isles for the division crown and who knows how far they can go from there. It is no secret that Holtby has been the team's MVP this season and if he plays like he can tonight this should be a great spot for the Caps to rebound and I'll take my chances here as Washington gets the better of Philly this time around.
