The Penguins look to exact revenge as they head into Washington to face off against the Capitals to complete the home and home set.
The Penguins will look to hand the Capitals a loss at the Verizon Center and make up for last week's home loss to Washington at the Consol Energy Center as both teams battle for playoff positioning in the Metro division. The Pens head into Wednesday sitting a point up on the Caps for third spot in the division but with just six points separating first from fourth it'll come down to the wire and every single game counts but these divisional games between rivals mean that much more. Pittsburgh had a lock on a playoff spot in the early going of the season but a tear from the Caps and Rangers has them both back in the mix alongside the New York Islanders and now all four will be looking to claim the division title and home ice advantage in the first round at least. Marc-Andre Fleury will get the call as he will go up against Braden Holtby.
The Caps are coming off a loss but at 7-3 in their last 10 contests and upended Pittsburgh in the last meeting with the two sides but they know Pittsburgh will be out for blood in this one. Washington has done well under new head coach Barry Trotz and have had another strong season statically from Alex Ovechkin and Nick Backstrom but those two will have to step up when it counts if the Caps are going to go on a playoff run and even down the stretch here they'll need to elevate their game just that much more so that Washington can lock up a shot at hoisting the Stanley Cup. However, this is a tough spot as it is very difficult to beat the same team twice in a week's time when they are this close in talent and I think Pittsburgh gets their revenge here coming off an impressive win against St. Louis.
