The Washington Capitals saw their opportunity at a 3-0 series lead versus Tampa Bay go by the wayside in a 4-2 defeat on home ice Tuesday. Washington never got their offense going and the defense allowed three goals in the second.

Tampa Bay did not look good in in opening the Eastern Conference finals by getting swept at home but the team rose to the occasion in game three to avoid an 0-3 hole. The Lightning saw Steven Stamkos score on the power play in the first with Nikita Kucherov also finding the back of the net with the man advantage for a 2-0 lead to open the scoring in the second.
