The Line: Winnipeg Jets -195 / Arizona Coyotes +175 --- Over/Under: 6
The Bell MTS Centre and the Winnipeg Jets host the Arizona Coyotes in Tuesday NHL action.
The Arizona Coyotes are looking for their third win of the year when the team faces the Winnipeg Jets for the second leg of home and home series. Winnipeg won the first matchup at the Gila River Arena 4-1 which gave the team wins in five of seven overall while Arizona has dropped four in a row.
The Coyotes have generally been ‘fast starters’ and that trend continued with the first goal scored in 13 of their 19 games. Zac Rinaldo gave the Yotes the lead at 14:33 of the first. Winnipeg received a second period goal from Matt Hendricks and the teams went to the final 20 minutes with the score 1-1.
That’s when Arizona and Winnipeg headed in opposite directions with the visitors scoring three times to pull away. Mark Scheifele gave the Jets the lead on the power play just 2:31 in to the third with Kyle Connor upping the advantage to 3-1 at 8:01. Patrik Laine found the empty net with 17 seconds remaining to secure the win for Winnipeg.
Blake Wheeler added a pair of assists and Connor Hellebuyck recorded 29 saves to give the Jets the win in game one of the home and home series. Antti Raanta was charged with three goals on 20 shots and dropped to 1-4-2.
Coyotes are 0-4 in their last 4 games playing on 2 days rest and under is 5-0 in Coyotes last 5 overall and under is 3-0-1 in Coyotes last 4 following a home loss of 3 or more goals. Over is 6-0 in Jets last 6 games playing on 2 days rest and over is 5-0 in Jets last 5 home games and Jets are 7-1 in their last 8 vs. Western Conference. Coyotes are 0-7 in the last 7 meetings in Winnipeg and Coyotes are 1-4 in the last 5 meetings and home team is 7-2 in the last 9 meetings.
It doesn’t who plays in these home and home series but sweeping is very hard to do. I’ll still back the Jets pending goalie confirmation…
