Chicago Blackhawks (44-26-7) at Winnipeg Jets (31-39-7)
|Date & Time||Friday April 1, 2016, 8:00 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Winnipeg Jets +136 / Chicago Blackhawks -150 --- Over/Under: 5
The Blackhawks look to shake off some rust as they have lost seven of their last 10 when they head into Winnipeg to face off with the Jets.
The Chicago Blackhawks have picked a tough time to go on a slide and while they have locked up a playoff spot and will have an opportunity to defend their Stanley Cup crown they haven’t looked great of late and could very well slide out of third place in the Central division. The Hawks lead the Nashville Predators by only four points with five games remaining and it could mean avoiding a first round show down with the top seed from the Western Conference and while it looks to be a crapshoot at this point anyway the Hawks would likely prefer to finish the season in third. The Hawks are 20-15-4 on the road this season but take on a Jets side that has really fallen off this season and will have the edge with two key matchups in this game with Andrew Ladd returning to Winnipeg for the second time since getting dealt at the trade deadline, and home town boy Jonathan Toews who always has big games against the Jets.
The Jets head into tonight’s contest coming off a 2-1 loss to the Ottawa Senators on Wednesday night and sit in third to last in the Western Conference with a 31-39-7 record. Winnipeg was a playoff team a season ago but since their qualification they have a winning percentage of just 38 % and with those kind of numbers you aren’t going to compete with the league’s top dogs and that is exactly what they run into here with the defending champs in town. This is a nightmare scenario for the Jets as the Hawks are playing some bad hockey right now and may have a suspension upcoming for defenseman Duncan Keith so I think they are going to take all of their frustrations out on a bad Winnipeg team as Chicago cruises.
