The Stars and Jets meet up in Winnipeg on Saturday as both teams look to shake off an ugly stretch and get back in the win column.
The Stars are a team that has flown under the radar so far this season but after a nice stretch where they were stringing together multiple game winning streaks they are finding themselves moving in the opposite direction. Dallas went into Nashville on Thursday night looking for a confidence boosting victory but instead they came out on the losing end of a multi goal loss and now must rally in one of the toughest and loudest arenas in the league. Despite going 3-4-3 in their last 10 contests the Stars still sit three games above .500 and are a nice winning streak away from jumping back into relevance in the Western Conference. Kari Lehtonen will get the nod in goal as he goes up against Ondrej Pavelec for the Jets.
The Jets are coming off a shootout loss against the Avalanche in which they played very hard but still could manage to secure a critical second point. The loss was the second in as many tries for the Jets on their current home stand as they dropped a tough, low scoring effort to the Blues just a couple days prior and now they get a Stars team looking for a momentum swinging victory after a couple of sloppy efforts. Winnipeg has been a tough team to figure out all season as they seem to play their best against the game’s top teams yet drop critical and winnable games to the league’s also rans. Ondrej Pavelec has played a lot better of late and if he gets the start here it will be a great duel to watch between him and Lehtonen. While the Stars to me have the edge in goal I don’t think it’ll be enough as the Jets have the home ice factor and a deeper team and I think on this day the home team gets the best of the visitors.
