The Stars and Jets do battle in Winnipeg on Tuesday night in a battle between two Central division foes.
The Dallas Stars look to rebound after stumbling into the all-star break and regain their place atop the Central division standings as they kick off the second half of their season in Winnipeg. The Stars were the talk of the league through the first few months as they couldn’t lose and Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn were tearing up the league, and while they are still sitting two-three in league scoring their fire seems to be extinguished a little but thanks to Chicago’s great run. The Stars are loaded offensively and will be a handful to deal with for the rest of the regular season and into the playoffs but if they’re going to make a run at a Cup they need to bring in a piece or two to help shore up their back end and maybe even their goaltending. Kari Lehtonen is expected to get the nod as he will face off against Connor Hellebuyck.
The Jets meanwhile have had a bit of an underwhelming season and aren’t quite where many expected them to be heading into the campaign but there is still time for them to right the ship and get back in the playoff picture. The Jets currently sit in last place in the competitive Central division and are trailing the Wild by eight points just to get to sixth which doesn’t bode well for Winnipeg’s playoff chances and if they can’t turn it around quick they will likely become sellers at the trade deadline. Winnipeg does have a nice roster and Connor Hellebuyck has been a very nice surprise since taking over as the team’s go to guy in the crease but this is just a terrible match up as Dallas has too much fire power and I think they get the win.
