The Stars return to action for the first time since getting pasted by the Bruins as they head into Winnipeg to battle the Jets.
The Dallas Stars look to shake off one of their worst losses of the season as they head into Winnipeg to battle a Jets side desperate to go on a run and finish the season with a playoff berth. Dallas was the talk of the league to start the season as they went on a tear through the first two months but they have since cooled off and while they remain a serious contender in the Western Conference they have some company as the likes of Los Angeles, Chicago, St. Louis, and Anaheim are all playing very well and have overtaken the Stars as the team to beat. Dallas again is coming off a terrible loss and will be eager to get back in action for the first time since Saturday’s disappointing drubbing at the hands of the usually low scoring Bruins.
The Jets haven’t had the season many envisioned heading into the fall and they will likely come up short when it comes to the Western Conference playoff picture but that doesn’t mean they won’t thrive in the spoiler role down the stretch. Winnipeg put an end to the Dustin Byfuglien trade rumors by locking up the defenseman long term but the same can’t be said about Andrew Ladd who is likely to find a new home by the end of next week and tonight’s opponent may be knocking on the door as they look to shore up some pieces for an extended playoff run. As for tonight, I think Dallas gets back in the win column as they are the ones still playing for something while Winnipeg struggles to another home ice loss.
