The Kings look to continue their push at the Pacific division crown as they head into Winnipeg to battle the Jets.
The Los Angeles Kings have been one of the most consistent teams all season long and aside from the Washington Capitals have been the longest standing division leader and look poised to lock up home ice throughout the first two rounds at least. The Kings currently hold a four point lead on the Anaheim Ducks for top spot in the division and trail the Stars by four points for top spot in the Conference but with a game in hand and nine games left in the regular season they could very well take over top spot in the West and celebrate another trip back to the Stanley Cup playoffs. LA is 21-13-3 on the road this season and we can expect to see Jonathan Quick in this spot as he will face off against a Jets side that is 16-18-3 at home and will counter with Ondrej Pavelec.
This has been a season to forget for the Winnipeg Jets as they have gone from a playoff team in the Western Conference to a league doormat and have siphoned off a couple of resources in an attempt to rebuild for the future. Winnipeg sits in second to last place in the Western Conference and while they are likely to avoid finishing in the basement thanks to Edmonton’s annual swan dive it certainly hasn’t been a productive year for a franchise that is now well stabilized in their new city. Winnipeg is in trouble here against a very good Kings side and with added incentive for LA to win to keep distance on the Ducks I think they step up and grab a big road win here.
