The Nashville Predators and Winnipeg Jets meet up in Manitoba on Tuesday night in a show down of two of the league’s best teams.
The Predators head into Winnipeg on Tuesday night looking to make a statement road win against the Jets in what should be an incredibly exciting contest and one that could very well end up being a playoff show down in the Western Conference this season. Nashville made a few moves at the trade deadline and look like a group that will be in the mix to win the West again this season as they are very deep across the board and have one of the league’s best goaltenders in Pekka Rinne who will look to give Connor Hellebuyck a lesson in how to win in big game situations. The Preds have won four games in a row and are an impressive 20-8 in their last 28 games against division opponents but they will be in tough here against a Jets side who added some power at the trade deadline and has been lethal on home ice.
The Jets are red hot right now and are 5-1 in their last six games overall but they have struggled on home ice against good teams on the road and that is exactly what we have here in the Predators who have been one of the league’s best teams since the puck dropped in October. Winnipeg has won 22 of their last 28 home games overall though and with the Predators coming to town they know they are going to have to give one of their best efforts of the season and with newcomer Paul Stastny likely to be in the lineup this looks like a chance for Winnipeg to put the rest of the league on notice.
The Predators are 10-3 in their last 13 on one day’s rest and 5-2 in their last seven road games while the Jets are 4-1 in their last five against the Central and 5-1 in their last six Tuesday games. Nashville as a dog in any situation is a solid play but the Jets are playing very well and have been ridiculous at home so they are the play for me.
