Saturday NHL gives us a matchup between the Winnipeg Jets and the Ottawa Senators.
The Ottawa Senators followed a two game winning streak with consecutive defeats after a 3-2 loss at Detroit on Thursday. Brady Tkachuk and Matt Duchene lit the lamp for the Senators in the first and second respectively. Anders Nilsson absorbed the loss for Ottawa with three goals allowed on 29 shots.
Andreas Athanasiou scored a pair of first period goals for the Red Wings with Frans Nielsen lighting the lamp in the second. Six players recorded points for Detroit who saw Jimmy Howard stop 40 shots.
The Winnipeg Jets opportunity of a three game winning streak disappeared in a 4-1 loss to visiting Colorado on Thursday. Brandon Tanev lit the lamp in the first for the Jets and Connor Hellebuyck took the loss with four goals allowed on 35 shots.
Dominic Toninato, Gabriel Landeskog, JT Compher and Sven Andrighetto all found the back of the net for Colorado. Matt Nietto logged a pair of assists for the Avalanche and Semyon Varlamov recorded 28 saves to pick up the win.
Senators are 7-16 in their last 23 vs. Central and Senators are 15-48 in their last 63 road games and Senators are 2-7 in their last 9 overall.
Jets are 64-23 in their last 87 home games and Jets are 10-4 in their last 14 vs. Eastern Conference and Jets are 15-6 in their last 21 vs. Atlantic.
Senators are 1-4 in the last 5 meetings and Senators are 6-2 in the last 8 meetings in Winnipeg.
If you look at Ottawa you are just hoping for a win and if you look at Winnipeg they aren’t winning decisively or they are losing. I’d do something on the over to stay interested but that’s it…
