The Flyers look to complete the sweep of their Canadian double header after downing the Leafs in Toronto last night as they head into Winnipeg to take on the Jets.
The Flyers have had a tough start to the season and will be hard pressed to make the playoffs but it must have felt good to break out for seven goals in a winning effort on Saturday as they took down the Leafs in Toronto. Philly does have a relatively easy path in terms of qualifying for the postseason as the Metro division is bar none the worst in hockey but with the Rangers and Capitals starting to heat up the Flyers could be left behind before the mid way point of the season. The Flyers do have some talent namely in the form of Claude Giroux and Jakub Voracek who leads the league in points at the moment but beyond that the Flyers are a little thin and don't have the same intensity we saw from them just a few years ago. Philly will likely turn to Ray Emery here as he will go up against Ondrej Pavelec.
The Jets continue to prove people wrong as they find ways to win hockey games despite being down four regular defensemen and they have been rewarded for their efforts as they sit in the Pacific division and are right in the mix for the postseason. Winnipeg is a very solid team that has plenty of character guys that are essential for a successful squad and this could very well be the year they get over the hump and get back into the postseason which would be a great reward for the Winnipeg community who has been brilliant since the team returned to the league. The Jets must slow down the Philly offense that broke out last night and while they are without some key pieces defensively I think they have the ability to keep the Flyers in check and with last night off I think the Jets will be well rested and ready to go and I like them to get the win.
