The Winnipeg Jets look to continue their dominance over the St. Louis Blues when the two sides meet up at the MTS Centre on Monday night.
The Blues are coming off a big victory on the road against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday and will look for an encore as they face off against another league power house on Monday night in Winnipeg. St. Louis has been one of the league’s top playoff contenders in the Western Conference over the last decade or so but they have never been able to break through and share a similar template of the old Washington Capitals who finally got their championship after years of underachieving. St. Louis is 3-10 in their last 13 overall dating back to last season and and are 1-5 in their last 6 against teams in the Western Conference so things don’t look great here against a Jets side who is lights out at home.
The Jets are off to another strong start but have battled inconsistency as they are 1-4 in their last 5 games following a win and have just 10 wins in their last 34 Monday games so there is some hope here for a pesky Blues side. Winnipeg has a knack for beating up on underachieving teams though as they are 7-0 in their last 7 games against a team with a winning percentage under .400 and with their home record being so strong since they returned to Winnipeg it makes sense to see the odds makers leaning towards a comfortable Winnipeg victory.
The Blues are 2-5 in their last 7 road games and 2-9 in their last 11 meetings with the Jets while Winnipeg is 25-12 in their last 37 overall and just 2-7 in their last 9 playing on a single day’s rest. The Blues are a good team but they get out matched here as the Jets get another home win and start stringing a few of them together.
