The Jets look for their third win in a row and further grasp a playoff spot as they welcome the Central leading Blues to town on Thursday night.
St. Louis will look for their third win in a row and to separate themselves from the Preds and Blackhawks in the Central division standings but they know going into Winnipeg will be a tough out as the Jets fight for their playoff lives. The Blues are undoubtedly one of the best teams in hockey and can win on the road, at home, in a back to back or on a week's rest and come playoff time they will be one of the favourites to win it all especially if they receive stellar goaltending. The Blues are coming off a win against the Flames in Calgary while the Jets polished off the Sharks at home in their last contest.
The Jets are right in the mix for a Western Conference wild card spot but they know it is going to be tough to get into the postseason and their schedule down the stretch isn't the envy of any team in the league. Winnipeg likely has the toughest remaining schedule of the teams in the hunt and while it is more than possible they can do it they'll just have to up their playoff mentality a week early and treat every game like a do or die situation. Ondrej Pavelec has been the hot hand for the Jets but they could go back with Mike Hutchinson who will face off against Brian Elliott. In a game of this magnitude where both teams need the win I think mistakes will be at a minimum and as such this one will stay tight to the vest and bring us in under the number with ease.
