The St. Louis Blues and Winnipeg Jets shift back to Manitoba for Game 5 in a pivotal matchup that has seen the road team win every game of the series.
The Blues left Winnipeg last week after winning both of their first two road games of the series and had a chance to book their ticket to the Central division finals but they have given home ice back to Winnipeg thanks to back to back losses at home. St. Louis is hoping the trend continues and avoid losing their third straight contest as they will look to get a spark for their offense that has run dry over the last two games and could be their undoing if they can’t right the ship in a hurry. The Blues are 4-0 in their last 4 games as an underdog and are 10-4 in their last 14 contests overall but they have struggled against the Jets as they are 5-13 in their last 18 meetings and will have their work cut out for them against a Winnipeg Jets side that is coming off a momentum shifting overtime victory.
The Jets meanwhile backed their way into the playoffs and looked as though their quest for a Cup was going to be incredibly short lived but they have bounced back and evened the series here against the Blues. Winnipeg always has a huge home ice advantage thanks to their crowd and while they have yet to harness that in the postseason you can be sure that with a chance to take their first series lead they will be rocking and give the extra boost to the players on the ice. Winnipeg is just 1-4 in their last 5 games following a win and are just 3-7 in their last 10 games overall but they have played the Blues well over the last couple of seasons and are coming back after an overtime win in Game 4 that was preceded by a huge Game 3 win to get them back in the series.
The Blues are 4-1 in their last 5 trips to Winnipeg and the road team is 6-0 in the last 6 meetings while the Jets are 9-4 in their last 13 playing on a day of rest and 2-5 in their last 7 as a favorite. The Blues looked great early on and even in defeat in overtime in Game 4 they look like a team capable of a run. But this series looks like it will shift to a home ice feature as Winnipeg gets it done here and move to within a win of the next round.
