The Jets look to shake off a loss in their last outing as they stay at home to face off against the Tampa Bay Lightning at the MTS Centre.
The Bolts head into Winnipeg looking for their fifth win of the season as they too are coming off a loss but Winnipeg is quickly becoming one of the toughest arenas to win hockey games in and for most road teams they are likely to be listed as underdogs, granted or otherwise. Tampa Bay is loaded with offensive weapons as we saw in last year's postseason and they sit tied for the most goals scored in the Eastern Conference so far with 23 but against a Jets defense they might be in tough as Winnipeg has allowed just 13 goals and have becoming very stingy in their own end. Steven Stamkos is still looking to break out in the early going and if he can elevate his game here there is a good chance the winning goal will find his stick.
The Jets are 4-2 on the year but thanks to a very hot start by the Central division they sit in fifth place entering action tonight and with the likes of St. Louis, Minnesota, Chicago, and Nashville in front of them the Jets know that every single game matters when accounting for playoff seeding. Winnipeg was a playoff team last year but were shelled by the Ducks in the first round leaving for an incredibly long offseason but at the same time will serve as motivation as they look to get back to the postseason and this time come away with a few victories. Winnipeg again is very tough at home and with the Lightning looking ahead to a Stanley Cup rematch on Saturday in Chicago I think this is a great spot for the home side to add to their total.
