The NHL comes to the Bell MTS Centre where the Winnipeg Jets host the Vancouver Canucks.
The Vancouver Canucks have either been winning a few in a row or losing a few in a row and right now it’s the latter with the team dropping consecutive contests following back to back defeats. Vancouver comes off of a 4-2 loss at the Calgary Flames on Saturday where the offense stalled. Jake Virtanen gave the Canucks a 1-0 lead just 2:02 in to the first with Brock Boeser scoring on the power play with just 55 seconds left in the second for a 2-1 lead.
The Flames offense was held in check with Troy Brouwer scoring in the first before exploding for three third period goals. Matthew Tkachuk scored twice and Sam Bennett also lit the lamp to make a winner of Mike Smith and his 22 stops. Anders Nilsson allowed three goals on 34 shots for Vancouver.
The Winnipeg need a quick change in momentum to revers their fortunes. Winnipeg had been paying well a week ago but are in danger of wiping out those gains with three straight defeats capped off by a 4-3, overtime loss at the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday. The Jets received scoring from Nikolaj Ehlers, Andrew Copp and Kyle Connor with Connor Hellebuyck stopping 24 shots.
Brayden Point scored in overtime to help Tampa Bay secure the two points while Mikhail Sergchev, Nikita Kucherov and Yanni Gourde scored in regulation. Tyler Johnson added a pair of helpers and Andrei Vasilevskiy recorded 17 saves for the Lightning.

Over is 4-0 in Jets last 4 home games vs. a team with a winning road record and Jets are 5-1 in their last 6 vs. Pacific and under is 5-1 in Jets last 6 vs. Pacific. Canucks are 0-4 in the last 4 meetings in Winnipeg and Canucks are 1-7 in the last 8 meetings and under is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in Winnipeg.
The Jets have generally fared well against the Canucks and did do some good things versus Tampa Bay so for now I’ll take the home team…
