Cologne is hosting Borussia Dortmund in round 2 of German Bundesliga.
Cologne is the new arrival to Bundesliga after winning Bundesliga 2 last season with 63 points and 84 scored goals in 34 matches. In their opening match in Bundesliga last weekend against Wolfsburg, Cologne has a decent match with 53% of ball possession, 2 shots on goal, 6 corner kicks and 76% of correct passes and have lost 2-1. Achim Beierlorzer was signed as a Cologne's head coach in July of this year after their temporary coach Pawlak got fired. Cologne has played 7 games in the preseason period and has won 4 against lower division teams while losing to Southampton, Villarreal and Werder Bremen. Cologne was pretty busy on the market this summer with 12 departures and 11 arrivals. Jhon Cordoba is suspended due to a red card, while Clemens, Nartey, and Katterbach are injured and will not be in the lineup. Cologne is one of those teams that simply doesn't have enough quality or game style to compete with the big dogs and will most likely be fighting to stay in Bundesliga next season which is their main goal for this season.
Borussia Dortmund is the best team alongside Bayern in Bundesliga and will once again be competing for the title after losing out in the last round of Bundesliga last season. Dortmund is the offensive firepower and is playing the best soccer in Germany at the moment. In their last game against Augsburg in the opening week of Bundesliga, Borussia has shown the newcomer who is the boss with 78% of ball possession, 10 shots on goal, 10 corner kicks, and high 92% of correct passes and after being down 0-1, Dortmund has scored 5 unanswered goals and has won 5-1 in front of their fans. Borussia was always a strong, attacking team with players like Reus, Sancho, and Alcacer and with new arrivals in Schulz, Brandt and Thorgan Hazard, Borussia became even stronger. On the defensive end, Dortmund has had some problems and lack of consistency for the last two season but that could change now after the arrival of Mats Hummels from Bayern this summer. There are no suspensions or notable injuries in Borussia's squad so coach Favre will have all of his superstars at his disposal. In my opinion, Borussia Dortmund is offensively stronger then Bayern this season and if they manage to keep their most important players through the winter transfer window, this could finally be the season that Dortmund ends up in the top of Bundesliga.
Borussia hasn't lost any of their last 11 games and hasn't lost any of their last 6 away matches and the last time that Cologne won against Dortmund was back in 2015. Borussia is by far the stronger and better team here and is playing in much better form, I think that cologne will wait at least another week before their first victory in this season.
